Boys carrying water

Posted by Nick Edens (Toledo, United States) on 23 March 2008 in People & Portrait.

For the next few weeks I will be posting shots of people in the Port de Paix area (the same area as the adoption home is in). These shots were all taken in the downtown area of Port de Paix.

This shot is of a few boys who are carrying water. There is a man who controls the "public" water supply. When the "public" water supply goes out people have to buy water. Unfortunately the only person to buy water from is the man who runs the "public" water supply, and he sells it at a much much higher cost than the public water. So as you can imagine the public water gets turned off quite often. Hence the boys all buy water and carry it back home to their families.

These children in the photos are in need of many things. If you are interested in helping or would just like more info please leave a comment to that effect and I will get back to you or email me at nedens @ gmail.com (be sure to remove the space before and after the @). Children in the free school can be sponsored for $25 a month which gets them 1 good meal a day (for some the only meal they will eat), a uniform, and school supplies. So as you all take a look at this series please consider helping.

I really appreciate everyones comments. They are a great encouragement to me. Thank you!
